Stewart Airport Commission: "Bitte komm zurück, Frontier." - "Please come back, Frontier."

🇺🇸 Stewart Airport Commission chairman calls for Frontier's return

Spirit Airlines' bankruptcy has freed up its slots at New York's LaGuardia Airport, and both JetBlue and Frontier bid to acquire them — JetBlue winning with $58.5 million against Frontier's $57.5 million. Against that backdrop, Paul Quartararo, chairman of the advisory Stewart Airport Commission, is urging Frontier to bring service back to New York Stewart International Airport in Newburgh. Frontier once flew from Stewart but pulled out just months after launching with much fanfare. Quartararo's argument: if Frontier is willing to spend roughly $57 million to fly into slot-restricted LaGuardia, it could operate at Stewart with no slot restrictions and no acquisition costs at all. His plea reflects a long-standing struggle — ever since the legacy carriers left Stewart one by one in the late 1990s, the Hudson Valley airport has been unable to attract lasting passenger service.
