🇩🇪 Neuer Anlauf zur Gewinnung weiterer Fluggesellschaften
Mit einer neuen Initiative wollen die Verantwortlichen der Port Authority zusätzliche Fluggesellschaften für den Flughafen im Hudson Valley gewinnen. Ziel ist es, Stewart für Airlines attraktiver zu machen, die ihr Streckennetz ausbauen möchten.
Ein sogenanntes „Minimum Revenue Guarantee“-Programm (MRG) soll dabei helfen. Solche Programme werden an Regionalflughäfen in den USA häufig eingesetzt, um das finanzielle Risiko neuer Strecken zu verringern. Bleiben die Passagierzahlen in der Anlaufphase hinter den Erwartungen zurück, gleicht das Programm einen Teil der Einnahmeausfälle aus und gibt der Airline Zeit, die neue Verbindung am Markt zu etablieren.
Ziel ist es, Fluggesellschaften davon zu überzeugen, dass die Region genügend Nachfrage für zusätzliche Flugverbindungen bietet.
Derzeit wird Stewart Airport lediglich von Allegiant und Breeze Airways bedient, deren Angebot sich überwiegend auf Ziele in Florida konzentriert. Obwohl diese Verbindungen für die Region wichtig sind, wünschen sich viele Reisende seit Jahren ein breiteres Streckenangebot und die Rückkehr weiterer Fluggesellschaften.
Für die Fans des Flughafens markiert die neue Initiative ein weiteres Kapitel in der langen Geschichte von SWF. Ob das geplante Förderprogramm tatsächlich neue Fluggesellschaften und zusätzliche Ziele nach Stewart bringen wird, bleibt abzuwarten. Es handelt sich jedoch um den konkretesten Vorstoß seit Jahren, den kommerziellen Flugverkehr am Flughafen wieder auszubauen.
Als langjähriger SWF-Fan hoffe ich natürlich, dass eines Tages sogar wieder eine Direktverbindung nach Europa auf dem Flugplan stehen wird.

As a longtime SWF fan, I naturally hope that one day we may even see a nonstop route to Europe return to the airport's schedule.
